Thank you to D&S Harley Davidson!!!  You guys are AWESOME!  Last Saturday D&S Harley did their annual  Biker’s have hart bike ride to help raise money for Ty!!   Which ended with a street party in downtown…. It was nice to finally get a chance to hang out with everyone from D&S and get to know them a little. Everyone from D&S is so giving and kind, they are truly wonderful people and we are truly thankful to have their help! It makes you stop and remeber that there are people in this world that really do care….  Ty was given a saddle with a note that said; ( May you have lots of wonderful rides) and one of the Biker’s gave Ty a suit of armor coin that says; (Put on the full armor of GOD so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes) he will be bringing it with him to China to have with him at all times… He loves it!

So we leave in 3 days!!!  (May 7th) I am getting so excited and NERVOUS at the same time…. I will be leaving my baby and 5 yr old  at home with their daddy, do to the recent out break of the swine flu… We were planning to go as a family but would hate for our 10 month old (or Kailee) to be exposed to this horrible flu…This will be so HARD to be away from them for over a month, but we feel it is the right decision for their safety. I just have to keep my mind wrapped around why we are going!  My mom will be going with us and I am glad of that!!  Hope you enjoy the pics!

The Pear Blossom Parade was a blast!!  Harley Davidson had shirts made up that said Biker’s have heart with there symbol and below  it read Hope for Ty 2009!!  I can’t beleive all the bikers there were, probably about 35 to 50 riders!! We all rode on the float and it was a complete blast, the kids loved it!  Ty loved the sound of all the Harleys and as you can see from the pics he was able to sit on a Harley!!  He loved it!  I still can’t beleive all the support from D&S Harley Davidson, They are some of the nicest people we have ever met and we are so blessed that they came into our lives.  Hope you enjoy the pics…

Ty Singing a revised version of with a little help from my friends!

We have been so busy the last couple months with different fundraisers!   On Feb 17th the school put together a Beatles concert which was a HUGE success!!  All the students wore tied dyed shirts and sang their hearts out of Classics hits from the Beatles! The last song was by Ty and he sang a revised version of “With a little help from my friends”It was so amazing to see all the people their to support Ty.  We live in a very small community and I am so thankful to have all this support.  This event was advertised in our local paper. I recieved an email from the owner of D&S Harley Davidson and they want to sponsor Ty for their annual “Biker’s have Heart” bike ride which they do every year to help a local child in need.  They do the last ride on May 2nd (right before we leave) and they end the ride with a street party in downtown Medford where they block off the streets and have a huge party!!  I couldent beleive it!  I feel so blessed to have all this help for Ty!  Thank you Harley Davidson!  Coming up is the Pear Blossom Parade on April 10th.  Ty was asked to ride on a float in front of all the bikers…. He is so excited to do this.  If you want to see Ty on their website you can go to www.dsharley.com and click “whats new”  you will see Ty on the back of a Harley!!!   The end of March we plan to do a huge fundraiser yard sale.  The last one we did raised over $1100- so we are hoping for another great turn out.     I will keep everyone posted on how the fundraisers go.  I can’t belive we will be leaving in less than 2 months! Hope you enjoy the pics!!

We went to Portland Or. for Ty to have the last of his tests for the treatments.  My best friend Melissa lives up there so we were able to break away and have some fun at one of Ty’s favorite places, Omsi Muesum!!  We spent the day checking out the displays and making bubbles…..  It was a lot of fun!  It was good to spend some time with Mel and Max, I cant beleive how much he has grown.  We will see more of them in the next year since Ty has to be seen in Portland at the Casey Eye Insitute every 3 monnths after his treatment….

A lot of hard work, but it paid off!!

Well our fundraiser yard sale last weekend was a huge success!!!  We sold items anywhere from tools  to tons of women’s clothing and I mean tons!  My mom kept bringing more stuff out and it was so busy that I almost couldn’t talk the next day!!  lol.. We had the sale Saturday and Sunday and raised a total of $1,486-   I can’t beleive we raised that much from just a yard sale!!  We were so happy and feel so blessed that a lot of people came to support us, even though some of them were trying to get a bargain, but then some were telling us to keep the change on a lot of stuff too, so it all worked out.   I do think we handed out over 250 pamphlets (the story of Ty)  It seems like a lot of people in the community already had heard of Ty. Either from the school events or seeing him on the news.

The next fundraiser event will be the bikers have heart bike ride on May 2nd (5 days before we leave)  So we are excited about that!  Ty Ty wants to ride on the back of a Harley!!  That will be so fun for him and I know he cant wait!!

Well I know everyone thinks we are going to Thailand for Ty’s treatments. But things have changed!  The hospital feels that Ty will be better off going to China as the facility there allows for a more in depth treatment program. Plus there will be 2 other American families with us in China. The other 2 children are the same age as Ty and we have become friends with them. Also it will be about $10,000 less to have the treatment done in China!!  It will be uplifting to have the support team there with us as well.  We are kinda bummed as we were really looking forward to going to Thailand, but I guess China here we come!!    So I have been doing tons of research on Bejjing.  We are staying in a little town East of Bejjing called Qingdao…. If anyone has any helpful information on China you would like to share, That would be great!    The updates will continue….

Finally we have all the required tests done!! Yeah!  It has been pretty stressful the last couple months with Ty having to undergo tons of different types of tests and blood work.  He is such a trooper… We went to Portland to the Casey Eye Institute where he has gone for years and they had to do 3 different sets of eye drops. Ty was not to happy about that, But he  did it!!  Ty had a VEP test done, where he had to put on these black goggles and look at hundrends of light flashes every minute or two.  He said it was like being inside a strobe light!   After about 30 min of non stop flashes in his eyes he said, ok I am getting annoyed now!  Then to make the time pass by faster, Ty decided he would start counting the flashes and let the lady know when the next set was coming…. He just has a way of turning a bad situation into a positive one!   Honestly I would have went insane if I had to do this!!… He saw flashes the rest of the night after we went home.  Not to mention he had just had an MRI like 2 days before this test too. And if anyone has had and MRI before they are not fun!!   So needless to say we are so happy that these tests are complete!!   The next few weeks we will be thinking about what to bring with us on our trip!    We leave in about 6 weeks or less!! Wow I am getting nervous… I know this adventure will be one of the hardest things we will ever go through in our lives, But hopefully it will be worth it!   As Ty’s mom I have to do this for my son no matter how hard and stressful the circumstance I have to know that I tried everything for my baby to see this beautiful world.
